Who is Will Roscoe?

This campaign about about planning for AutoBART. I hope to earn your vote through the process.

The Basics

I'm Will Roscoe.  You can call me by my first name or my last name. Either way, I'll listen.

I grew up in a small town near Jackson, Wyoming.  I graduated from Tufts University in 2006 with a degree in Civil Engineering. Since then I’ve been working in the water and energy industries with a focus on operations, engineering, and analytics.

Currently I live and work in Oakland. I live with my fiance, Emily, my son Isaac, and a couple of other young professionals. Most of my time is spent developing a research tool, and helping Emily as she opens her new fitness studio.

What drives me?

I want all of us to be able to travel safely, efficiently, and independently.

Everyone should be able to travel comfortably in the Bay Area: children, the elderly, the disabled, the poor and everyone else. If we set this as the threshold for "modern transit" then we'll satisfy all the requirements to the public.

I'll start with children, as I plan for the future.  Kids can't drive, so cars are out of the question. Biking on the roads is certainly not safe for anyone who may be easily distracted by a squirrel.

I want to live in a healthy environment.

It's unnecessary and very undesirable for our transportation system (mainly vehicles that produce exhaust) to be polluting our air and water You can see the exhaust that your breathing as settles as black dust on white window sills. Go ahead. Scoop up a little with your finger and take a deep breath.

People drive because public transit isn't good enough.

A bike ride in the Wyoming mountains is where you find some of the cleanest air.
I'll write more later.

Help make Bay Area transit awesome.

Regardless of your background I'd love your support.  Above all we need more people talking about the vision of truly modern public mass transit.  You can join the campaign to get ideas how to spread the ideas and raise expectations.

Thanks For Caring

If we share a vision of the future, we'll know the steps to get there.
